VAMPIRE APOCALYPSE BOOK TWO: NICHOLAS
Katrienna Knights
Dreams Unlimited, Dec 2000
ISBN: 1892520559

Though this is his third time attending Vivian's annual Halloween bash by mostly vampires, Nicholas Carrington wonders if he erred by escorting a mortal with him. He likes Dina Winters and questioned whether she would be safe among all these vampires. Nicky normally feeds off the dregs of society, but this time he is unable to resist Dina's sexual allure and bites her neck. For some reason Nicky's victims sometimes linger in pain and Dina appears to be one of these poor souls.

When Dina awakens, Nicky tells her she is slowly dying, which surprises her that he knows of her illness. Nicky has ethics and plans to stay by Dina until the end, praying that the "Senior" Julian and Vivian can save Dina's life even with neither one knowing what causes Nicky's dangerous episodes. Perhaps the enigmatic Cloaked Figure can provide the answer and save Dina's life, but at what cost?

Though it helps to have recently read Book One: Julian, Book Two: Nicholas can stand alone as a supernatural romantic action tale. The story line is fast-paced, but the novel belongs to the key characters. Nicky is a powerful lead character struggling with his morality especially in light of what he did to Dina and another person at the party. Dina is a brave heroine and the bloodsucking support cast make the vampire species seem genuine. The first two novels of the VAMPIRE APOCOLYPSE will remind readers of a carefully planned cliffhanger of a series that introduces events and new characters, and in turn leaves the audience desiring book three rather quickly.
